Quality signals you can check quickly
- Clear stitch preview (not only a flat artwork mockup)
- Realistic stitch count for the design size
- Sensible color stops instead of chaotic tiny changes
- Readable size information and included formats
- Clean edges and shapes that are not overly jagged in preview
Density and fabric match
A dense filled design can look premium on stable fabric with cutaway stabilizer—and look terrible on a thin T-shirt. Quality includes suitability, not just pretty artwork.
Underlay and pathing (why some designs sew smoother)
Well-digitized designs use underlay to support top stitches and plan travel paths to reduce jumps. You may not see underlay in a photo, but you notice it in smoother stitch-outs and less distortion.
Red flags
- No stitch count, no dimensions, no format list
- Extremely tiny text sold as a large complex scene
- Preview looks blurry or heavily watermarked with unrelated seller branding
- File only offered as an image (JPG/PNG) with no stitch format
