A messy downloads folder slows every project. A light organization system helps you reuse designs, avoid duplicate downloads, and find the right hoop size in seconds.
A folder structure that works

Name files with useful details
When possible, include theme + size in the folder or notes—for example floral-wreath-5x7. Keep original pack names if they already include size versions.
Track what you already own
- Store ZIP packs and extracted stitch files together.
- Keep a simple spreadsheet or notes file for favorites.
- Delete exact duplicate ZIPs after confirming identical contents.
- Back up your library to an external drive or trusted cloud storage.
Before you download another pack
Search your library first by theme and hoop size. Many “new” downloads are repeats of designs you already have under a different pack name.
Quick tip: Create an Inbox folder for new downloads. Once a week, sort Inbox into theme folders. Small habit, huge time saver.
